Backbone Rock Falls
Here are some pics of Backbone Rock Falls. I have also included a pic of Backbone Rock. These are not too impressive, but it is a neat place to visit if you are near Shady Valley, Tenn., or Damascus, Va. Apparently there is another cascade close by.
DIRECTIONS: This recreation area is 10 miles north of junction U.S. 421 on state road 133. Park at the turnout on the right side of the road, just before the tunnel through Backbone Rock. Follow the loop trail to the right, which initially follows the road before heading upstream. The base of the falls is in 0.4 miles from the start of the trail.

Thanks for posting the directions to all the falls. Wanting to revisit them after many years and can't remember how we got there... There is one you don't mention- we called it "Abram's Falls"- NOT the one in the smokey's- it is not far from one of the bristol exits off I81. Going north you exit and turn toward the north, go a short distance and go right on a little country road. It is not far at all. I could find it again, I think, without much trouble. You should ask around about it, because it is one of the more spectacular ones- and not too hard to get to. I did it with a baby in a backpack many years ago.

Abrams is easy to find and the trail is fairly short but people get killed there every year. I enjoy going there often but you have to be very careful and i would not recommend taking a baby in a pack. That just sounds insane. It is being patrolled now because so many ppl have been killed there. If you go be very careful.

Enjoyed your pics. I took my daughter to Backbone several years ago and she loved it. There is a beautiful waterfall in Pembroke, VA called the Cascades. It is a great place to visit.

Backbone falls used to be such a nice place. The last time we were there, condoms lined the trail. Once we saw the syringe we turned around and left. Officials would do good to clean the place up as it is not family friendly.
